WILLIAM WITHEY

I've been transferring tapes and film in Olympia for over two decades. Through my work, I've been able to provide access to legacy media for families like yours and mine, for state and local government, for businesses and institutions, for Washington tribes and even for the Vatican.

The projects I've been entrusted with range from recordings of native languages, conserving legal evidence, documenting the history of the South Sound to preserving treasured family memories.

I am passionate about the service I provide and that's why I founded Archive Washington.

YOUR FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD ARCHIVIST

The mission at Archive Washington is simple: to provide high-quality audio, video, film and photo transfers that you can't get from other places (and rescue some family memories along the way). Archive Washington is an active member of the Association of Moving Image Archivists and the Northwest Archivists, Inc. We offer evaluations of your media archives.

WHY BUY LOCAL?

Local businesses are owned by your friends and neighbors who live right here are more invested in our community’s future — just like you!

INVEST IN COMMUNITY

For every $100 spent at a local business, $68 recirculates and remains in our local economy! (Only $43 remains in our community when it’s spent at big corporations)

REDUCE ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACTS

Local businesses make more local purchases and use fewer transportation miles. That leads to less pollution, congestion and habitat loss.

STRONG AND UNIQUE SERVICES

One of a kind businesses distinguish the unique look and feel of our community and they contribute to a stronger tax base. This means better schools, transportation and services.

COMMUNITY SUPPORTING COMMUNITY

At Archive Washington, we believe in the triple bottom line; people, planet and profit. So we are donating a percentage of our profit to the Olympia Education Foundation who's work includes:

  • "Principal's Emergency Fund, which allows school staff to immediately assist students who have urgent basic needs – anything from shoes to eyeglasses, groceries, utility assistance, or partial rent. Removing systemic barriers helps ensure students continue to come to class, stay engaged in learning, and ultimately, feel successful in their education and life.

  • "Teaching & Learning Grants, which enhance student learning, close opportunity gaps, and meet needs that the district, schools, and parent organizations cannot. Commonly awarded requests include: library books, extracurricular opportunities, art projects, musical instruments, guest speakers/assemblies, field trips, school gardens, P.E. equipment, learning tools for students who have fallen behind due to the interruption to school caused by the pandemic, and so much more!

  • "Mental Health Initiative, which addresses concerns over the decline in student mental health. This year we supported counselors’ and social workers’ needs for materials and programs that specifically address social-emotional learning (SEL) and mental health."
